Beat His Wife With a Rubber Hose
40 O NEW PLYMOUTH, Sept. 19. One uionth's iniprisonment was imposed on Charles Neville Cole, skaremilker, of Puniho, by Mr W. H. Woodward S.M., in the Magistrate's Couri today when he admitted assault on his wife Jean Winifred Cole. Evidence was given that Cole severely beat his wife with a rubber hose He admitted doing so but denied having struck'her with his fists as alleged. Constable W. F. Antill, in evidence, said Cole, when questioned, stated tiiai he beat his wife because she would not do as he asked her. Cole had been eonvicted and sentenced to a week 's im prisonment on a similar charge in January 1947.
