Cure For Cancer Is Only Matter Of Time

« — . — ; MELBOURNE, Sept. 19. Professor W. E. Gye, a leading world authority on cancer, said that a new diseovery had made a cure for cancer only a matter of time. Prof essor Gye, who is attending a medical conference and, who then proposes to take a holiday here, said that he and his wife, Dr. A. M. Begg, of punedin, recently made the diseovery in London that cancer was a virus. ' ' I claim in , all humility that our diseovery was the most momentous event in cancer research in 50 years, ' ' added Prof essor Gye. ' ' Cancer research is revplutionised. We now know what to look for and it is only a matter of time. .We exploded the theory that there is no continuous cure in cancer. Scientists dan now turn over a new leaf and start looking for a cure. The ' answer will most likely be a drug like penicillin to kill the cancer virus. ' ' He said that the cure would most likely be discovered in the United States where millions of dollars were being spent in the search. Professor Gye retired in August from the directorship of the Imperial Caneei Research Eund. He was also a Nufliela senior research fellow in the department of allied economics1 of Cambridge. He wishes to continue his work if he can find a home in West Australia.
