Man Killed When Train Hits Truck

AUCKLAND, Sept. 15. One man was killed instantly two others had luckv escapes when an out ward bound passenger train collided with a small truck at the Church Street railway crossing at Penrose late this afternoon. Deeeased was: STANLEY MILNE McVICAR, freezing worker, aged 21, of Onehunga. His parents live at Gore. The other two occupants of the truck were Malcolm Charles Burgess, the driver, and Peter Ramage, aged 18, freezing workers. Burgess received shock and lacerations to the face. He was talcen to the Middlemore Hospital for treatment but was not admitted. Ramage, who was riding in front of the truck with Burgess, was not injured. The three men wero returning to Waikaraka Park from the freezing works when the accident occurred. McVicar was riding on the back of the truck and was thrown into the train. His body was recoyered about 12 yards from the scene. The truck was extensively. damagcd. The train was delaved for about half an hour.
