Cause Of Cancer Traced To Virus

Received Wednesday 1 a.m. PERTH, Sept. 13. The cause of cancer had been traced to a virus, said Professor W. E. Gye who retired recently from the Im perial Cancer Research Fund laboratory. Professor Gye, who arrived at Fremantle in the Stratheden from England today, said that all supposed causes of cancer, like cold tar, X-ray, sunlight and chemical substances of a great variety, were subsidiry and provocative but not the real cause of the disease. The vrius was present constantly and was responsible for the properties of the tumor. i "It is beyond the wit of man to find an antibiotic to cure cancer? I say no. That we have heen able to pin the cause of cancer down to a virus, is an important step forward," he declared.
