Festive Occasion Marks Coming-of-Age

Gaily decorated with streamers and balloons, the Anglican Hall, Otaki, was the scene of -a very happy birthday party on Saturday night last, when friends gathered to celebrate the eoming-of-age of Miss Edna Brown, very popular only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex. F. Brown, of Riverbank Road, Otaki. Mrs. Brown in a blue and maroon frock and Miss Brown in blue lace and georgette received their guests, some of whom came from as far afield as Auckland, Hamilton and Marton. Dancing filled the major portion of the programme, with tuneful music provide'd by Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Tews, while Mr. S. Hayward, of Levin, carried out the duties of master of ceremonies. Feature of the supper table was an attractively-iced birthday cake, the work of Mrs. Brown, with the icing work of Mr. Arthur Webby, in eolours to match Miss Browns frock. Toastmaster was Mr. A. Hayward, of Levin, and the loyal toast was proposed by Mr. C. -F. Atmore. Mr. O. Gibbons, of Marton, who proposed the toast of the guest of the evening congratulated her on attaining her majority and paid .tribute to her deserved popularity an'd many fine qualities. Miss Brown, in reply, thanked all who had attended and heiped in any way with the success of the evening. '
