Set Fire To Truck For Insurance Money
AUCKLAND, Sept. 12. Financial embarrassment and the hope of getting- the insurance money, were the reasons given by Alan Herbert Cates, aged 28, cartage contractor, Waiotira, Northland, for setting fire to his truck valued at £1300 at Silverdale on the night of August 16. He pleaded guilty and was committeed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Accused, a married man with three children, .tohi the police he paid £35 monthly olf money advanced for the purchase of the truck. The money was guarantee'"1 by his uncle who asked him to do something about the account.
