Cricket Club Holds Annual Meeting
There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Shannon Gricket Club, held in the Council Cmambers, last week. * The president, Mr. A. Seaton, presided, and in his report on the activities of the club over the past season he stated that the year had been a most successful one. Members had been keen right from the opening day and as the season progressed so the enthusiasm increased; with the result that the club had been successful in winning the Horowhenua competition. E(e expfessed the hope that the same keenness would exist . this season and that the club would uphold the honour • by retaining the Hall Shield. Mr. Seaton extended thanks to his committee and said that by their co-operation the club had operated with the greatest of harmony. He also thanked each member of the club who had worked so hard to place it on top. The secretary then presented the balance-sheet, which showed the club to be in a good financial position. The following officers were appointed for the coming year: — Patron, Mr. J. A. Roach; president, Mr. A. Seaton; vice-president, Mr. H. Curran; secretary, Mr. G. McEwen; club captain, Mr. V. E. Tippler; delegates to Horowhenua As- . sociation, Messrs. T. Roach, V. E. Tippler and J.' P. McNeile; aomain lmprovement- committee representative, Mr. G. McEwen; committee, Messrs. Seaton, McEwen, Tippler, Roach, McNeile, K. Thomson, G. Hampson, K. Clough and E. Spring. It was resolved that a letter requesting the use of the domain be written to the Shannon Borough Council. Subscriptions were fixcd as follows: Seniors £1, members under 18 years 15s, school aged members 7s 6d. Practices are to be held each Tuesday and Thursday evening. On the motion of Mr. T. Roach, it was resolved to try and field a junior team and any interested persons are asked to contact a member of the committee. It was pointed out that it was necessary to give the Horowhenua Association at least one week's notice of the field- * ing of a junior team before the draw was made for that grade. It was resolved that a letter be sent to the football club con"gratulating it on its victory in winning the competition this season. An enthusiastic meeting coneluded with a vote of thanks to the chair.
