Received Sundav. 7 p.m. NEW YORK, Sept. 10. An American army sergeant, James Hendrix, fell 1000 feet from a traus port plane to tlie ground "but suffered only "bruises and sliock. His two parachutes failed to open when ha took part in parachute exercisesrOver Fort Benning, Georgia. The suspension lines of Ms first parachute "became tangled in a hoot "buckle. He pulled the ripcord of the second parachute at 500 feet but its lines tangled with those of.the first parachute. Hendrix, who was the thirteenth man to jump from the plane, was un ahle to walk for a time "but said later in the army hospital that he "felt fine."
