The rapid restoration and growing competition of the Japanese textile industly in the world market is causing considerable anxiety among British manufacturers. Lancashire exporters complain against the large and increasing import of Jananese cloth into • British West Africa at prices lower than Britain's. It is unlikely that the British Government will try to persuade America to abandon her present policy of fostering Jdpanese economic independence even though much hardship might be caused to Britain's textile industry. To the United States and to Britain Japan rerriains the one bulwark against Communism in the Far East. To this end she is being assisted industrially and economieally.
