Ih a third grade gaxne between Napier High iSchool Old Boys and Horowhenua College . Old Boys, p^ayed at the Levin Domaln, tne lo'Cal team, emerged the winners by nine points to three. The game developed into a dour struggle, mainly due to th fact that both teams were very evenly matched and hCfther side showed any signs of • letting up. The backlines of both teams tackled hard, and.interception and mstaiices of players being caught in possession were numerous. On the Whole, however, there. were some bright pieces of play at times, with the. Horowhenua team gaining the honours. The scrums and -lineduts were even, although Jones at nalf.-baek, did grand work in gaining the bait for Old Boys from ihe riicks and sending his. backs away. Juno, captain 6f -the local team, was hurt halfway through the first ! spell . and was . replafied by Allen. Gampbell, moving into the backlihe, played well. Doyle was always dahgerous at cenxre ahd his • try was particularly ' impressive. Dome played a fair game, while Penny, on the Wing, was never out of trouble from his opponent. Wheian played an aggressive game, but was often caught in possession. His try was well earned. Murray was one of the best forwards on the field,, while Bartosh was always on the ball." Judd was particularly noticeable i'n the loose play. Welis was also prominent at times. . The early part of the game gave tio iiidication as to v/hich. side held the advantage.
