Battle Of Britain Service Banned By Pacifist

Received Fridav, 7 p.m. LONDOX, Sept. 9. Because he regards Battle of Britain Sunday as a commomoration of a mili-' tary event the Archdeacon of Rtoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, has banned the use of his p&rish church for the anniversary service on the 18th. "As a Christian pacifist I cannot conscientiously take such a service. If it had been a remembrance service, i would have been perfectlv happy about it, but my view is that the Battle of Britain,- anniversary commemorates a military event which is incompatible with my pacifist instinct. ' ' Ho would not agree that the Battle of Britain was a special case because it had saved Britain. "The question of that salvation is a matter of opinion," he said.
