Nurse Has Narrow Escape At Levin Station
Luck was certainly w'ith a young woman yesterday who, in attempting to re-board the WellingtonAuckland express as it moved out of the Levin station, was thrown violently on to her back.- She landed safely on the platform, fortunately, some distance frcm the mdge,,and gpa,r,t frpm a ^^ak-, in'g was unhurt. The woman, a nurse from the Auckland Hospital, was returnirig from leave in the South Island and had left fhe train to buy a bar of chocolate • at the station bookstall. She noticed the train pulling out and ran to board it. She made a bid for the door handle of a carriage, but was unable to open it and was thrown backwards. Arrangements were made by the station staff for her personal luggage to be taken off the train at Palmerston North and the woman left Levin by a later train to connect with the Limited at Palmerston- North.
