Personal. Mr. G. W. Johnston, of Buckley, . returned home yesterday after a business visit to Suva. Mr. Ivan Griffiths has left Shannon to take up a position in Wellington. Although the whitebait season is well under way, there have been very few catches locally. Until recently the river has been too high to fish and over the last few days those who visited the river returned home without a catch. Weekend Golf. Over' last weekend members of the Tui Glen Golf Club visited the Buckley links for their annual s match against tlie Buckley club. An enjoyable afternoon's golf resulted in a win for the home club.As usual, catering arrangements ^ • were ably handled by the Buckley ladies. Sunday Sport Taboo. Organised sport on Foxton Beach on Sunday is now taboo. The Foxton Harbour Board decided yesterday, on the motion of Mr. H. J. Dewe, to legislate against any sport on an organised basis, following a decision taken in committee in which motor-boat racing was concerned. The move follows recent board decisions to ban. Sunday greyhound and' motorcycle racing at the beach.
