Presentation Of Football Trophies
— (To the Editor) Sir,— Is our Rugby Union slipping, or more appropriately, are the old traditions dying On Saturday last Rahui seniors journeyed to Levin and played Shannon in the Nash Cup final. After a particularly fast game, an*d here the writer may add that the friendliness and the spirit in which the game was played was a credit to both teams taking part, Rahui' emerged the victors. But where was the cup? Would it not have been possible for the president of the union to have presented the cup at the completion of the game? Surely after such a good game Rahui would feel that much of the glamour of winning \yas lost through their not receivmg the cup. Shannon are a fine sporting team, while the match also served to show what a fine sport the referee, a Shannon resident, is. In conclusion, may I say, wake! up Horowhenua Union, the social side of football counts for much. Yours, etc., "FOOTBALL LOVER." Otaki, Sept. 6.
