American Girl Fails To Swim Channel
. . •>» Received Wednesday, 10 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 6. A 17-year-old American schoolgirl, Shirley May France, failed to swim the Channel today after being in the water lOi hours. Shirley was moaning and groaning when her coach pulled her from the water after she had pleaded for 20 minutes against giving up.
