WELLINGTON, aept. 2. The removal -from office of Messrs H. Barnes and T. Hill as members of the Waterfront Industry Authority "hecause of their misconduct while members of that authority," was an- 1 nounced tonight hy the Minister of Labour (Hon. A. McLagan). Their removal has effeet as from today. "The New z,ealand Waterside Workers' Union has been informed that because- of this misconduct the romoved members will no longer be deemed to be eligible -H'or membership of tlie Waterfront Ihdustrv Authority or of the Waterfront Industrv Coiumission, " said the Minister. "The Government has given consideration to the request of tlie national executive of the New "Zealand Waterside Workers' Fnion for ihe calling togetlier of the Waterfront tndustrv Authority. Cabinet lias decid■d that Commission control of the vaterfrout industry will be continued jrovided members of the union indicate by a plebiscite vote their desire for a continuation of such control and their collective undertaking to accept and abide by all the deeisions of the Waterfront Industry Commission and of the Waterfront. Industry Authority subject, of course, to right of appeal to the Authority from the deeisions of the Commission. "The. New Zealand Waterside Workers' Union has been advised of the Government 's decision and on tne necessary assurances being given the union will be invited to submit 110111111ations for appointment as members oi the Waterfront Industry- Authority Meetings of the Authority can then be resumed as soon as the vacanc-ies have been filled. "
