President Truman said today that he lmped tlie war of nerves botween the Commuiiists and democratie countries woubl end in the surrendel1 of the ('oini unist Governments. Jlr. Truman made j statcment when asked to comliicnt on the tcnth anui versary of the Second World War. He ' said he was happy that the shooting war had not continued but disappointed that the war of neiies had gone on in recent ycars. He lnd been working since he becuiue President for tlie surrendel1 of the Communist (iovernments and he lioped it would come just as surrendel1 came at the end of the shooting war. When asked to deiine -surrender, President Truman replied that it meant exactlv wliat he said. He added that there had been a delinite slackening of the cold war and hoped every one would get iu a mood for geiieral peace. The I'nited Nations would then function as it should and the world would have geilerations of peace.
