British Show Of Might For German Workers
Received Frfdav, 9.40 a.m. LONDON, Sept. 1. British troops today occupied for an hour the Ruhr chemical and synthetic oil plant at Oberhausen, where German workers drove olf dismantlers yesterday. British Officiais, in an ultimatum; gavt the Germans until noon to decide whether they would permit the dismantling to be done peaceably. When the deadline passed, soldiers entered the plant in 12 annoured cars, armed with machine-guns, but were withdrawn after an hour's occupation. The action is regarded as a show of force. In London a British Foreign Otlic-e spokesman said that although the Foreign Office was keeping a clcse watch on the position, it was at present leaving to the loeal regional commissioner the handling of opposition to the dismantling.
