Ohau And Shannon In Even Badminton Game
An eyenly-contested match in the Jlorowhenua Badminton Association's A grade competition was that played recently between Ohau and Shannon. The honours finally went to Ohau by 10' games to six. Mrs. Candy and Miss Piggot had a good game, the former emerging on top. It was pleasing to again see Miss M. Fuller in . the Shannon team and it was . obvious that she has ' not lost touch with the game. H. Pope, Shannon's top man, played well . to beac J. Fanning. Results of individual matches were as under, Ohau players being mentioned first in each instance: Men's singles: J. Fanning lost to H. Pope 14 — 21, D. Honore beat D. Pedersen 21 — 17, P. Candy beat D. Gyde 21 — 4, W. Mudge beat O. Tippler 21 — 15. Ladies' singles: Mrs. H. Candy ■ beat miss J. Piggot 15 — 8, Miss W. . Murray lost to Miss M. Fuller 1 — 15, Mrs. H. Murray beat Miss H. Gardiner 15— .3, Miss J. Fanning beat Miss D. Ritchie 17 — 15. ! Men's doubles: Fanning and . Honore. lost to Pope and Peder- . sen 20 — 23, Candy and Mu'dge beat( Gyde and Tipp.er 21 — 14. : Ladies' doubles: Mrs. Candy and Miss Murray iost to Misses Piggot : and Fuller 11 — 15, Mrs. Murray and Miss Fanning beat Misses ; Gardiner and Ritchie 17 — 14. Combined doubles: Fanning and Mrs. Murray lost to Pope and Miss ' Piggot 18 — 21, Honore and Mrs. !
