Received Wednesday, 9.30 a.m. LONDON, August 30. At ten minutes to flve this even-? ing Sutcliffe hit.. three full tbsses from Mann, the Middresex captain, to the leg boundary and New Zealand had beaten Middlesex, the champion county this year with Yorkshire, by nine wickets with 7\J minutes to spare. It was a magnincent finaie to New Zealand's matches against the counties, none of which has won a match against their visitors, and. sets the seal of an excellent achi'evement on the New Zealanders' tour. With a lead over Middlesex of 13 ' on the first innings, New Zealand bowled the county out for 169 in three and a quarter hours. Burtt took four for 50 and Cowie three for 68. 1 Then Sutcliffe, Scott and Rabone got the necessary 157 in 95 minutes. Sutcliffe hit 110 (one six and 17 fours), thereby reaping his seventh century and passing 2500 runs. He batted beautifully — all other adjective would be superfluous to describe the speed and power of his shots. The New Zealanders now have two first-class matches remaining —against England's Elevens, Hastings and Scarborough Festivals. Details: — MIDDLESEX. First Innings 315 Second Innings.
