Municipal Croquet Club's Annual Meeting

The Municipal Croquet Club held its annual meeting last week at the resi'dence of Mrs. T. W. Synnott. Those present were Mesdames A. Wilson, R. S. Purvis, T. W. Synnott, W. McBeth, S. Brooks, E. T. Silverwood and R. Young. Several apologies were received. Mrs. Synnott, on behalf of- members, presented the president, Mrs. Wilson, with a beautiful bunch of violets. The balance sheet and secretary's report were then read and adopted. Mrs. Wilson congratulated the club on a most successful season, the most outstanding feature being the fourth place gained in the inter-club games played at Palmerston North. The club will be the richer this season by three new trophies, two donate'd by Mrs. C. Evans, one for senior and one for junior players scoring the most points on handi-^ cap, and the other trophy donated by Mrs. H. B. Edhouse, also -for handicap play. Mrs. Wilson voiced thanks to both these generous donors. Appreciation was recorded of the long and faithful service Mrs. F. Shaw had given to the club and she was unanimously elected a life member. The election of officers was as follows: — Patroness: Dr. E. G. Atmore; president: Mrs. A. Wilson; acting vice-president: Mrs. T. W. Synnott; vice-presidents: Mesdames F. Shaw, M. Richards, w. Morton, H. B. Edhouse, P. Nicolson and C. Evans; auditor: Mr. A. Wilson; secretary: Mrs. L. G. Gimblett; club captain: Mrs. R. S. Purvis; vice-captain: Mrs. E. T. Silverwood; green committee: Mesdames S. Brooks, W. McBeth -and E. T. Silverwood; match com-

miltee: Mesdames R. S. Purvis, E. T. Silverwood ' and E. Cobb; tea convener: Mrs. S. Brooks; delegate to Manawatu Association: Mrs. L. G. Gimblett. It was decided that the opening day be Wednesday, October 5.
