Local and General

Personal. Mr. and Mrs. G. Bradbury, of Te Horo, are on a holiday visit to Rotorua. Mrs. C. Brannigan, mother of Mrs. E. Smith, Tasman Road, has returned to Otaki following a visit to Dannevirke. Mrs. L. Henwood, of Otaki, following a holiday visit to Masterton, has now left for Napier prior to returning home. Friends of Mr. W. "Pop." Murcott, father of Mrs. Wastie, of Tasman Beach, will regret to learn that he is in the Palmerston North Hospital and that his condition is causing- anxiety. Institute Concert. The Otaki Women's Institute is arranging a concert for an early date in November. Card Evening Held. To raise funds for improvements at the Otaki State School, card evenings have been commenced in the Druids' Hall. A very pieasing attendance was seen on Saturday night, when prizes were annexed by Mesdames S. Harvey, W. Houghton and H. Arcus (firsts) and Mrs. P. Blyth and Mr. S. Harvey (seconds) . Well Attended Dance. The dance held • under the auspices of the Rahui Football Club, which took place at Manakau on Saturday night, was a pieasing success both socially and financially, a large crowd being present. A novelty dance was won by Miss E. Matulich and partner, and in the absence through hrdisposition of Mr. C. Pussell, Mr. H. Mimgavin was a most efficient M.C. Variety Concert. The concert arranged by the Otaki-Rahui Greyhound Club, which took place in the Civic Theatre on Sunday night, did not draw a large crowd, aithough the attendance was quite satisfactory. Performers were members of the Kilbirnie Wrestling Cmb Concert Party and a wide variety of numbers were presented. All items were enthusiastically received and encores were given willingly.
