Hiroshima's Dead
Received Monday, 9.55 p.m. NEW YORK, August .28. The number of Japanese killed in Hiroshiima in the atom homb atfiick, was hetween 210,000 and 240,000, the Mayor of Hiroshiina, Shimzo Hamai, said in a broadcast. He said his • estimate was based dn ration cards issued before and after the expiosion. Among tlife casualties were 30,000 Japanese troo.ps, half of whom were near the centre of the blast. The official United States estimates of the killed were hetween 70,000 and 90,000.
