Levin Lady's Success At Wellington Competitions
Miss Daphne. Ellwood, Levin, secured second place in the women's operatic solo section at the Wellington Competitions last night. She secured 90 points, the winner, Mrs. Gwen Klingender (Hastings), securing 91 points. The men's vocal scholarship was won by the Dunedin baritone, Mr. Raympnd Windsor. His own se ection item "Largo AI. Faetotum" sung in Italiari was reCeived with delight by the Town Hall's large audience. Second was another visitor, Mr. Graeme Gorton, Invercargill. His vibrant baritone was well suited to the strident "Now No More."
