Communists Fail To Extend Strike In Finland
^ Received Tuesday, 10.35 a.m. HELSINKI, Aug. 22. A Communist sponsored Finnish transport workers' strike failed to halt industry today ?nd buses and lorries continued running in Helsinki. Traffic was only slightly below . normal. The number of strikers in Finland is estimated at 27,000. The Communists forecast that 100,000 would be 011 strike. The union of leather, shoe and rubber workers announced today, in a letter to the Federation of Trade Unions, that it would postpone its strike which was to have begun tomorrow.
