Educational Institute's Monthly Meeting
There was a good attendance- of members at the August meeting of the Horowhenua branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute recently, Mr. W. H. Townrow presiding. The resignation of Mr. R. J. Taylor, who has left the teaching profession, was accepted with regret. Mr. C. E. Wiseley gave a resume of the business that came up for consideration at the last meeting of the committee of branches. In particular he dealt with the finances of the committee, late arrival of the Education Gazette, provincial dictionary of schools j and resi'dences, accidents to school children, school attendance, and remits for the annual meeting. Mr. Wiseley was accorded a vote oi thanks for his comprehensive report. It was decided by the meeting that the October meeting of the branch be devoted to the consideration of remits to be forwarded for the annual meeting agenda. Mr. A. Haley, of the Horowhenua College, gave a most interesting and informative talk on the "New Look In Geography." Mr. Haley's . humorous and eloquent style was ; very impressive, and it was a pity * that the discussion could not be prolonged on account of the meeting coinciding with the College musical production. Mr. F. O. Burtt, moved a very hearty vote of thanks to Mr. Haley. Votes of thanks were also accorded the Shannon staff for afternoon tea arrangements and to the chair.
