Eeceived Thursday, 7 p.m. LONDON, August 17. Not sinee 1021, which was oue of the driest sunimers recorded in Britain this centurv, has a harvest been complcted so expeditiously as this year. One weekend's heavy rain alone has interrupted the reaping and threshing, and already the work is complcted in many parts of the sobth of Fngland. Tf the weather holds it will be completed .in all the southern counties and much of the Midlands by the coniing weekend. Official estimates anto cipatc that the wheat will average over one ton to the aere, which will be oue of the best in the past ten years. Burley vields are also expected to 1)0 exeeplionally good, aiul nitogether the total yield of wheat, barlev, and oals is likely to exeeed the average for the past ten years bv about 500, (KU) tons. As a r» sult of the early harvest it has been possible to begin autumn cultivation in many parts of Fngland nearly a liionth earlier than usual.
