Bank Seeks Equipment By Debenture Issue
, The Levin Munieipal Band is too seek to re-equip its members with badly needed new instruments by issuing debentures, which it hopes will be taken up readily by the public, The Mayo^ Mr, H. B. Burdekin, in commendmg the scheme to the councillors and citizens at Monday night's meeting of the Levin Borough Councii, said that the band members themselves had • subscribed £100 in debentures as a start, Some of the members were quLe young and this practical in- . cerest was most cpmmendable. The band deserved a new set - of inistruments and he trusted the public - would -respond to this method of obtaining them. The Mayor preceded these remarks by observing tha't the band would be leaving soon to participate in a contest at Masterton « and, on behalf of the council, he wished it every suceess. Considering that the band had. had a setback during the war, it was most commendable that it now had 30 members ahd had recover-" ed so well and so rapidly.
