Election Candidates Grow
WELLINGTON, August 15. Tlie two major political parties, Labour and National, liave made good progress in the selection of candidates to contest the General Election later this year. Tn date, 01 National Party candidates have been selected, and the Labour Party has selected 60. Tlie Labour Party made a start in January with the selection of candidates, whicli was oarlier tlian in 19-1(3, said the secretary (Mr. A. J. McDon ald)' today. He added that the party was well satisfied with the progress made and with the type of candidate olfering. It is lioped, lie said, to have the balance of the election candidates selected in ample tiiue to cnsure a good campaign. It is expected a liumber of additional National Party candidates will be selected within tlie next few rays. Candidates have already been announced to carry the party 's banner in each of the electorates in whicli the voting was close in 1916. It is considered probable that by the middle of September the full list of the National Party candidates — one for each of the 80 electorates — will have been com pleted.
