Gladioli Club's Meeting
The, Horowhenua Gladioli Club held its monthly meeting recent^ ly. Th'ere was ,a good attendance. Mr, H. G. Smith was elected as the club's representative on the Levin Horticulture Society. Mr: Wharton.gave an 4 ^ddress on ster-^ ' ilisation of 'coritis"iii* hot' water baths and its relation to healthy growoh. Comparisons were made with chemical baths. Mr. Smith displayed a collection of corms for discussion. A paper was read on work for the month; it deglt with planting, vai'iatign in ffowering dates, sqil temperatLire and its" effect on the date of blooming and humus and its relation to healthy growth. It was reported that arrangements were taking shape foF a number of demonstrations and judging competitions in conjunoLion wiih the club's week'y shows, to be held during January and February next.
