Goats Milked By Machine In Australia
Goats at the Arltunga goat dairy and stud farm at Heidelberg, a suburb of Melbourue, are milked by machine, a process whieh saves labour and seemS to meet with the approval of the goats. The machines are adapted cow-milking machines and are installed in a milking shed which takes seven goats at the one time. . The animals come running into the shed quite eagerly at milking' time, hop up on to their platforms and stand quietly while eollars are fasten-' ed on them. No bails are used) Some of the Arltunga goats yield a gallon of milk a day and the herd averages three quarts output. It takes only an hour to milk the herd. Melbourne dairy products distributors have a constant demand for goat's milk for children allergie to the beef protein in cow's milk, and for asthma sufferers and other invalids.
