Personal Master Barry Whiteman, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Whiteman, of Tasman- Beach, is an inmate of Palmerston North Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. W. Cole, who have been residents of Ouaki for upwards of 20 years, hate secured a property in Palmerston Noi'th," where they intend to make their future home. Mrs. Co.e and her family have left Otaki and Mr. Cole is" to follow shortly. Card Evening Suecesses. The Ang.ican Beach Hall fortnightly card evening was held as usual on Monday last, when winners were Mrs. W. Anderson and Messrs W. Houghton, E. Egdell and J. Southgate (firsts) and Miss E. Brown and J. C. Meyer (seconds) . Rate Increase Ratified. That the rates be struck in accordance with the notice of intention was a motion passed at the meeting of ; the. Otaki Borough Council on Wednesday night. There was no comment. Later the town c erk, Mr. Aiex. Wilson, reported thatJ of the very few objections co une new valuations, some had been withdrawn.
