AUCKLAND, August 11. . Affiliated unions were recommepded by -the Auckland branch of the Tranhport Workel,s, Federation tonight to support the waterside 'workers' stand. All affiliations were represented at fhe meetihg which ' received a report frdin' delegates from the Auckland branch of the Waterside Worker's Union. After the meeting the Auckland president of the federation, Mr E. A: Whitlow, announced that the meeting had carried a resolution deploring the action of Auckland waterfront em ployers in preeipitating a lock oiit on the waterfront and endorsing the stancl taken by the waterside workers. Tt was decided to refer the dispute to. the national executive of the Transport Wo.r kers' Federation. Representative spejik ers from the Waterside Wqrkers' Union would be invited to address rdnk and file members to make known * the issues involved. - ' At the largest ordinary monthly meeting for two vears, members of the Auckland branch of the Harbour Boards' Employees-' Union, decided to night to take no action in the wateffront dispute until the WatersidF Workers' Union has resolved • it by secret ballot. In the event of the dispute alfecting the Harbour Boards* Employees' Union, a secret ballot of union membership will be conducted by the Department of Labour to deteriiiihe the union 's attitude.
