Vital Chinese Railway Cut By The Reds
Received Thursday, 7 p.m. HOXG KOXG, August 11. Official Canton sourees today reported the sus]>ension of train services between Hengyang and Kweilin on the j Hunan-Kwangsi railway, a vital life- . line of Pai Chunj^ Hsi's Xationalist ! forces in Southern Ilunan. Communists from Shaoyaug have presumably reached the Ilunan- Ixwangsi border across which the railway p-asses. Communist troops in Ivansu are rapidly advancing toward Lanchow, provincial capital, along two highways. Xationalist warships yesterday de-. tained 115 vessels atte'mpting to loave the Communist controlled port of Tangku. The action was taken with the view of closing Tangku to shippiug. Three Panaina inerchant ships and a 7000-ton foreign ve«sel, were ordered to leave Tangku. When the orders were obeved, the foreign ships were ordered not to enter Tangku again as the port was closed. Ainong the ships detained was a 1000-ton Communist vessel wliich ignored tlie Xationalist warning.
