Bottle Travels Long Way In Sea
DARGAVILLE, August 10. Fiye years ago a bottle containing a message was dropped into the North Atlantic sea. On Saturday it was foiind washed up at Round Hill, near Te Kopuru, by Mr J. Clarke. Written in pencil, the message was so well preserved that one could b'e lieve it was written locally and only a few minutes before discovery. Uih fortunately, however, the address written in ink on the envelope attached to the message and to which the finder was asked to forward a private letter also enclosed, was indecipherable. Dated April 30, 1944, and signed, Billv Nesbitt, the message, dropped in the North Atlantic sea "while on mv way to New York," reads: "To whom may find this letter to study current, would you be kind enough to use the enclosed envelope stating the date the time and place this bottle was pieked up. Also post enclosed letter to Miss Jones. "
