AITCKliAND, August 10. No assurance that Auckland waterside- workers would accept normal overtime work was received by the Port of Auckland Shipand Stevedores' Association a! 3.30 p.m, today, the expiry tiihe of the employers' ultimatum and in accordance with the association 's decision, aH workers were dismissed at 5 p.m. An opportunity to reconsider their attitude at tomorrow's monthly stopwork meeting, will be given the unionists by ^ the employers. The shipping companies will requisition at the labour engagement bureau for a one o'clock start tomorrow afternoon. A condition of employment will be that the men will work overtime as required. Tomorrow morning's stopwork meeting will be given possibly the last opportunity of averting the most serious stoppage the Auckland waterfront has knowh for more lha~ a quarter of a century. The shipping companies' ultimatum to the union was receiVed on Tucsday afternoon and was discussed at a meeting of the branch executive this afternoon. No statement was subsequently released.
