Transvaal Union Takes Finn Stand On Pnnislunent

, Gopynght)

Eeceived Thursday, -9.10 a.m. CAPETOWN, Aug. 10. : .Mr. H. J. Sanderaon, Johannesburg president, in a statement to-. day on behalf of the Transvaal Rugby Union, saM that the union would use every means in its power to ensure the ' punishmenG of any. player in Saturday's international match who strikes, kicks or attempts' to kick an opponent. Mr. Sanderson said there seemed to be an extraordinary view . that because players are internationaiis, • big strong and robust, they must' be allowed to off end against ' the ; laws of rugby football, written and unwritten, with impunity. His union impresses upon its players from their early youth that unless they controlled themselves and playe'd rugby in the spirit intended,' they were much better out of the game. An impossible situation w-ou'd arise, he said, if a union tolerated behayiour by its senior, provincial and. international players which it would not tolerate in its juniors. An: offence' by an international player was viewed very much more seriously than an offence by a player in club football. Game Reserve Visit. The party of All Blacks visiting the Kruger Game Reserve is hav-: ing some exeiting experiences. With the exception of the elephants, they' have see'n everything the reserve has to offer. The warden of the reserve, Colonel Sandenbergh, had a special truck ordered to take the visitors from their cars off the beaten track through the bush. This enabled them to see a herd of buffalo some 500 strong. The party also saw a fight between two bull hippos for the mastery of a herd. It was a-n aweinspiring sight. The river swirled as the older bull, his teeth lost in the battfe and deeply gashed about the neek, struggle'd off beaten to another pool. Anbther thrilling sight was, watching a young lion pair stalking an impala herd near a waterhole. They made three ,separate attacks, but in the end their impatience was their undoing, and the herd escaped. -
