THREE-HOUR SESSION
Council Of Europe Has Its First Meeting
Received Tuesday, 10.15 a.m. STRASBOURG, August 8. The first session of the Council of Europe — the Foreign Ministers of ten Western European nations — was held in the histcric Strasbourg City 'Hall today. The council met for nearly three hours and a communicue issued after the meeting said timi, Greece and Turkey could attend tomorrow's session if they deposited instruments of adhesion in tlme. For constitutional reasons, however, it will not be possible for Iceland to do so. Presumably Iceland wi'l join the council next vear. The vote to admit the three nations was unanimous. In the assembly Turkey will have eight representatives, Greece six and Iceland three. The coimcil's immediate task is to prepare a working agenda for the Consultative Assembly — the arst Parliament of Europe — which will meet for the first time on Wednesday. The Foreign Ministers of Dennaark, Norway and Sweden decided at a private meeting today that they would jointly oppose any attempt to admit Western Germany into the council.
