Lightning Check On Motor Vehicles In Levin
50. Over 150 mqtor vehicles were gtppped and their licehces and warrgnts of fitness inspected yesterday when Traffic inspectors W. Boyes, of Levin, and C. J. Robinsop, of Palmerston North, combined In a sudden check of the borqugh. They repprted after wa rds that on the wlio.le the percentage of drivers on the right side of the law in this regard was very good, only a few of those stopped failing to produce the necessary certificates. They added, however, that there would be more checks at intervals for spme weeks to come and motoristb would be advised to carry in theijr vehicles their licences and Varr rants of fitness. Apparently the news of the inr spectors' activities did not spread as quickly as might have. been exr peeted, for the borough council staff did not note any great demand fpr the renewal of licehces, the-ap-plications remaining at about five: for the day, a normal number. ' In three months the council has Issue 1142 licences, compared with g to'tal pf 1216 fpr- the whole pf last year.
