Levin Early Settlers Form Association

Early settlers of Levin and district formed an association at, a meeting held last night for that purpose. The attendance was disappointingly small, but it is expected that once the association eommences functioning considerable interest will be roused. Professor F. P. Wilson, who is president of the Early Settlers' and Historical Association of Wellington, was present. He ouPined the activities of that "association and gave some helpful advice. - Those present then 'decided to form an' association for Levin. and district. The f ollowing • committee was set up to organise a reuniorf and carry out the association's work until-the first anhual meeting: — Chairman: Mr. L. R. Salmons; hon. secretary: Mr. G. D. Harris; committee: Miss H. E. Bowen, Mesdames Drysdale, G. i>. Harris and H. Varnham, and Messrs H: Rippin, W. Procter, J. C. Milnes, W. S. Salmons and W. Storey. v . 1 A constitution and rules was. approved. Membership will be opeii to any residen: (and members of his or her family), who araved ih Levin or district prior to'January 1, 1919. The annual subscription was fixed at 5s. / v It was deci'ded to hold a reunion function on October 8. It will take ihe form of a social evening with dancing. . Now that an association . is * in existence it is hoped that all residents who qualify'for membership will join and assist in making it a success. . All interested may communicate with the secretary.
