Admits Assault On Pareora Postmistress

TIMARU, August 4. Pleading guilty to a °charge of assaulting the postmistress at Pareora so as to cause her actual bodilv harm, Harekara Tuatahi Riekus, aged 23, single, a labourer. of Temuka, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence bv Mr. E. A. Lee, S.M., in the Timaru Magistrate's Court today. Further charged with stealing a bicycle valued at £24, Rickus pleaded guilty and was remanded to appear in the Magistrate's Court, Timaru, for sentence after the Supreme Court sitting. Rickus, who was not represented by counsel. admitted assaulting Lucy Jean Underhill, postmistress and storekeeper at Pareora, 10 miles south of Timaru, with a pair of hedge clippers, on the morning of July 29.
