Few Citizens at Arbor Day Function

As a means of perpetuating the idea of Arbor Day and at the same time adding beauty to' the town, the official observance of the! sccasion in Levin yesterday was a marked success but as a public function it was failure, citizens showing a deplorable lack of interest. Those present at the ceremony, which was fixed for 10 a.m. at Playford Park, were the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. H. B Burdekin, Mesdames R. A. .Frederikson and N. Kirkcaldie, Crs. A. W. Parton and D. J. Sweetzer, and' Messrs E. Lycette (borough overseer) and E. D. Bell (-caretaker of the motor camp). In view of the small attendance, there were no speeches and each person planted a tree along the northern boundary of the motor camp.
