Little Interest Shown in Referendum
The returning tiSSicer/ Mr. J. T. Bovis, suated last evening that little interest was taken in t'he ref erendum at Shannon. Only 511 persons exercised xheir right to vote and this was considered to be very poor indee'd. The' results were: — FOR, 391; AGAINST, 117; informal, 3; total, 511. The Maoris of Shannon voted:— FOR, 10; AGAINST, 3.
