Mr. Attlee Sends Thanks Message To N.Z.
WELLINGTON, August 2. "Now that the great enterprise ot the Berlin airlift is drawing to a close may I send you our warmest thanks fothe" part New Zealand crews ha-ve play ed in it," states a message received to-* day -by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) from the British Prime Minister (Mr Attlee). "They have given a striking exampte of the spirit of co-operation which animates our Commonweaith, ' ' continues the message. "1. hope you wili convey to the officers and men who have taken part in the operation the expression of gratitude we owe thm. " Mr Fraser coiumenting . on the message paid a warm tribute to the British and American air forces t'u; their extraordinary achievenlent in organising the airtift. New Zeoland was glad to have been able to cnu tribute toward the successful exef.t tion of that striking and valuabii operation.
