Cease-Fire Order In East Indies
Received Mondav. 10.15 p.m. BATAVIA, August 1. The cease-fire agreement between the Dutch and Republicans was formalised today at a meeting under the auspices of the Tnited Nations Commission. Aecording to authoritative sources, the Dutch and Republican forces in .Tava are to be ordered on Wednesday to cease fire within one week and forces in Sumatra within eleven days. Simultaneouslv with the eease-flre order proclamations are to be issued by both sides directing both sides to cease inflammatorv Press and radio propaganda. A joint board, inelnding represen'tatives of the Tnited Nations Commission, -Dutch, Republicans and Federalists, is to be constmeted to ensnre the observance of the cease-fire orders. The Republican Army and Netherlar.ds forces are to be separately responsible for the maintenance of seeuritv and | order in their respective. areas with tne 1 stipulation that either forces would not enter the other 's zone without consent.
