The Great G.B. Shaw Plays Peek-a-Boo!
LONDON, July 31. Mr. George Bernard Shaw was even more unapnroachable on his 93rd birthdav — which he celebrated this week — than on his S2nd. A 'crowd of photographers who waited 'in a hot sun on the lawn outside I his home at Ayot St. Lawrence, Hertfordshire, saw only a glimpse ; of "G.B.S." peeping from behind 'some curtains which were drawn at him. Mr. Shaw gave only one interview on this occasion and issue'd his usual statement that he had no wish to be reminded of his | birthdays. Villagers at Ayot St. Lawrence, however, state they see no sign of any diminution in his vigour. . Recently when he had trouble with a swarm of bees in his garden he almost* ran down the village street looking for a local bee expert whose aid he enlisted to remove; them. Villagers who watched this per- . formance remarked: "He's good for a hundred."
