Chester, Stout Street, prior to leaving for Wellington, where she has accepted a shnilar position. R.S.A. Memorial Hall Week Further donations received by the secretary of the Shannon R.S.A. (Mr. E. J. Gunning) towards the association's efifort in support of .the war ■ memorial hall are as follows:— Dr. R. Collier and Mr. W. J. Jennings, £2 2s each; Miss Crowther and Mr. J. Barber, £1, each; Mr.. F. Denton, 5s. Foxton's Memorial At a meeting of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce held to eonsider the borough council's decision to hold a referendum on the war memorial question it was decided unanimously to re-aflirm the decision previously reached by the chamber and the Foxton R.S.A. that a clock tower was the most suitable memorial for the town. The more ambitious proposal to have a memorial hall . was condemned on the grounds of the cost. The - meeting decided to take all possible steps to ensure that its proposal was favourably received.
