("Chronicle" Correspondent) The momhly meeting 6f tne Raumati South Women's Institute was he.d recently in the Church Hall, presided over by Mrs. R. Wake.in. There was a large attendance and the gathering paid tribute to the late president, Mrs. M. Egger,s, members standing in silence as a mark of respect to her memory. A - golden thread talk, "The Old Family Photo Auburn, ' was a most interesting one, given by Mrs. E. Graham. Birthday sprays made by Mrs. Nye were presented to 'those members present whose . birthdays fell during the month. A demonstration 011 how to make tea-cosies was ably given by Mrs. Wakelin. A very amusing sketch, "Administering Angeis," was presented by Mesdames R. McKenzie, N. Taylor and Woon. Competitions resu.ted as follows: — Pikeleis: Mrs. Young and Mrs. Woon. Tapestry: Mrs. Woon and Mrs. Morton. Flower: Mrs. Cummings 1, Mrs. Price 2, Mrs. Davidson 3. Afternoon tea was served. Guild's Social , The Paraparaumu branch of St. Paul's An^lican Church Guild held its monthly social at xhe home of Mrs. Roberts. A bring-and-buy salestable was well stocked, and brisk business was the ,resu t. Competitions were held and freely entered into, winners being Mesdames Stone and F. Downs. The serving of afternoon vea brought a very pleasant afternoon to a close. ,Store Burgled

A burgiary that had a simple solution took place at Mr. Norm. Tayiors' store in Wharamauku Road. The thief broke in an^ took a small sum of moneyy making his entrance and exit through a small Window. With a certain degree of thoroughness, he rather carefu'ly covered his retreating footsteps. in the sand, but omitted to remove his pipe, which he had piaced on the window sill. The pipe was readily recognised by Mr. Taylor, and its youthful owner, aged 14 years, confessed when accosted. Bible Society Meets The annual meeting of the Paraparaumu - Reikorangi - Waikanae branch of the British and Foreign Bible Society was held recentiy, presided over by the Rev. H. B. Goertz. The secretary reporced that the sum of £100 10s 3d had been presented to the Bible House. Thanks were extended to the coliectors andto Mr. Brandt, the auditor. Guest spaeker at the meeting was Mrs. Markham J ones. T
