Young Citizen Farewelled

Mr. Richard Lind was the guest of honour at a social evening arranged by members of the Shannon Methodist Church and held in the Sunday school rooms recently. Its purpose was to wish him "bon voyage" prior to his departure for Belgium, where he iss.tvo, undergq training, after whicli'he will take up a teaching positidn in the Bel* gian Congo. I % Games, competitioris and items kept the many present in happy mood and a delightful supper was enjoyed. In asking the guest to accept a fountain pen, Mr . W. Roberts stated that all wfere! very sorry to see Mr. Lind leaving Nejv Zealand, but on the other hand'they 'were very proud of him and 'the work.he was undertaking. . Qn behalf - of those present, he wished their" guest every success and happinessTn hia new venture. The Rev. Ashworth and Mr. J. P. McNeile spoke on similar lines and also wished Mr Lind well in his future life. Mr. Lind, in his reply, thanked all fqr their kind wishes and for their gift, and said that he would always remember the many kind friends in his home town of Shannon.
