Otaki School Basketball
.. Two basketball teams from Paraparaumu .played against Otaki recently. The result of the first game was a win toy Otaki Afoy 12 goals to tfiree. In the second game Otaki also gained a victory by six goals to three. GirJs froin ' the surrounding schools and Otaki assembled last S'aturday when representative teams were selected in A and B grades to play Northern Horo whenua. The date flxed for this match Is August 13. The following are the South Horo whenua teams: — A team.—Goal: V. Tahiwi, J, Johnson, M. Hawea (Otaki) ; emergency, T. Mansfield (Convent). Centres: N. Carkeek, E. Double (Otaki) , J. Best (Te Horo) ; emergency, V. Larkin (Otaki). Defence: L. Raika (Otaki), C. Henry (Convent) \ L; Wallace (Manakau). . ,:B' team.r— Goal: A. Wallace (Manakau) , V. Johnson, S. Cobb /Te Horo) ; emer gency, M. Cook ..(Otaki). Centre: R. Webster (Otaki) , J. Morgan (Convent), J. McLean (Paraparaumu) ; emergency, B. ' Pound (Paraparaumu) . Defence: B. Edwards, V .Taylor, Y. •Maddock (Otaki) ; emer gency, M. Cpok (Otaki). . Prior to leaving the Otaki State Bchool, Miss Cath. Turner, who has been the coach of the A basketball team, was presented with two beautifully-arranged bunches of spring flowers. :
